Custom Handcrafted Aquarium Cabinet
This cabinet was custom designed and built by myself for a 125 gallon aquarium. The weight of the aquarium as you see it is somewhere around 1300 to 1400 lbs. The cabinet is 6 feet long, 2 feet deep and 28 inches high. I used walnut for the frame, maple for the door frames and drawer fronts, oak for the door panels and cherry veneer ply for the side and back panels. The frame is held together with hand cut dovetail joints and hide glue. The hinges, draw and door pulls and drawer slides are the only items held on with fasteners. The door frames are mitered together with biscuits for added surface. I built a pullout drawer for the filters to make cleaning easier. This aquarium is the home for our goldfish. The finish is hand rubbed tung oil and paste wax.
