This jewelry box is a commissioned work and is made from Maple and Walnut. It measures approximately 12"L x 7"D x 6"H. The tray is maple for the side and walnut for the handle and dividers. The tray is approximately 1 inch high and the lower compartment is 1 3/8 inches deep. Both the removable tray and the compartment are lined with velvet. I was requested to place a palm tree on the lid in place of the Yin-yang found on the Shanna. The idea of a single inlayed palm tree did not appeal to me, I thought it would look boring. Instead I painted an oil painting of a tropical scene surrounded by a custom walnut frame and placed the box owners name at the bottom of the painting. The finish is 6 coats of shellac .
