I swung sideways toward her neck slicing it in half, removing her head, instantly impeding her bawl, and in pulling back that same swing turned the blade flat and smashed her then severed head farther than I could imagine. Her lifeless body fell forward, and the squirting blood splashed on my face and went down my throat. Her black blood singed my skin and clothes like acid. Twenty seconds passed before her head landed at the opposite shore of the river. In the background I heard her body fall, finally lifeless, in a puddle of bad blood. I looked over toward it. No surprise this time. Everything was well, except for me. Dizzy, I fell to my knees again. My blade was now broken and perforated with countless chips and holes. Once again this weapon reflected my own feeling, this time of defeat. I began to doubt whether or not I would recover from this night. I placed the blade back in it’Äôs sheath, and collapsed.?The grass returned to normal, and so did the desolate chirps of passing birds, and annoying buzzes of the insects. I could hear a new sound this time. The sound of footsteps cautiously closing in, accompanied by heavy breathing, this being was extremely scared of me, I could feel his fear. I tried with all my strength to look up at him, but I was too weak to even turn my head. He asked with a gentle whisper if I was alright. I had only the strength to utter one word, ’Äòfood’Äô. I was fading fast. I tried desperately to muster up some strength to kill this poor man who came to my aid, but I couldn’Äôt stay conscious any longer.
